How old is this Rotosound packaging?

That's wild, I don't recall the blue. Must have been when I wasn't using Rotos. RS66 was my favorite string back when it had the day-glo orange label (paper insert), with Entwistle (my tone hero) on the back. I quit using them because QC became poor for awhile... I'd get dead E strings too regularly. But that was decades ago, I've started using them once again.

I was poking around Roto's site timeline, and found there are three versions of the lion;

The cartoon lion is under the year '93;

The color shifted photo lion is under '94 to '97;

And the OP's stylized lion is under the year '02;

Going by this info, I would guess OP's set is from late '90s, to early aughts.

Just got a brand new set of Roto Swing 66 for Christmas, but have yet to put them on my Ric clone build. I hope they are abit more long-lasting than the strings I remember. The ones I used on my Ric 4001 back in the late 70's/early 80's seemed to lose their "zing" in about a month. I remember reading that Squire changed them out every show, but he was probably getting them by the crate for free.

The packaging may have changed, but the UPC code when they scan it is likely the same. Thus, the new price.

Interesting packaging I've not seen.

I'd stopped using Rotosounds decades before those came out. NOTHING sounds as good as Rotosounds... for the first 20 minutes. From then on that wonderful tone that space aliens bestowed upon us begins to decay.
After using Rotosounds for some time, I understood why Jaco changed strings every song in the studio and Geddy changed strings every set live. After three days they sound like new D’Addario rounds, which sound great years later and are what I switched to.

FWIW Entwhistle is also my tone hero.
