How Possible It is to Learn 5 songs a week?

I'm really confused... I thought you were trying to learn 3 songs (originally 5 songs) in a hurry, for an audition in 1 week?

If the audition isn't for 2 years, then that should be plenty of time, not only to learn the 3 songs, but to take lessons, broaden your skill set, build music vocabulary, jam with your friends, join a band, play gigs, write some songs of your own, and generally become an excellent all-around musician. If you learn 1 song per week, then in 2 years, you will know over 100 songs. If you learn 1 song per day, then in 2 years, you will know over 700 songs!

So now that you have a clearly-stated goal (pass the audition in 2 years) you can work with your teacher to come up with a weekly lesson and practice plan, to help you achieve that goal.

Is that encouraging, or have I completely misunderstood your question? :)

Thank you! Don't get me wrong, the Army goes to the same school that the marines and navy go to, only the airforce does any sir of special treatment. Now if you're in a "special" band like "Pershing's own" or West Point you are actually considered a 42S(sierra) and get automatically promoted to E6, plus stabilization for a whole career if you do choose(no deployments or PCS). With that, I loved that area of VA the short time I was there! But it did get surprisingly cold for what I used to consider "the south"! LOL

The answer? Don't flip pages at all, just used more music stands! 2, 3 or 4, whatever you need to avoid losing your place! I combine this and making copies of the music to fit in those plastic page protectors and then a tape those together into one long page so I avoid turning pages.

If you have a situation like say concert or big band you are usually in the back or side and next to the drummer and will have plenty of room to do this(unlike say a whole section of people). So just grab 3 or 4 music stands, problem solved!!

I remember a couple of chilly days picking up my son at Little Creek. As for Virginia, we do have a winter season, but it only last about 6 weeks here on the piedmont, but man, those Nor’easters can be brutal, especially on Channel where the music school is.

Completely incorrect. USAF band members do BMT with everyone else.
