Exactly what I did and I couldn't be happier with it. I installed S/D SJB II's and a Leo Quann BA II bridge and it sounds and plays excellent.
You just have to look carefully at the cost vs benefit factor and make sure you don't push the investment into the area you would spend on an upgraded bass.
In my case I have about $750.00 invested in my MIM Jazz but that also includes cosmetic stuff like a pickguard, an SKB case, and professional intstallation of the bridge. The benefit of the Badd Ass II is debateable but the pick ups made a huge difference.
I don't regret spending the money.
