How ready are you for a gig?

Typically, we keep everything needed in the trailer, so all I bring is my bass and little gig bag. Oh, I have to make sure the drummer is in the car, haha… he lives nearby and we ride together, and he just brings a cooler.

My rehearsal studio is fully-equipped and ready.

That said, I only gig in one band, and don’t have to think about getting a call to rush out.

I have all my stuff setup for practice/jamming in the basement. You give me 15 minutes and I can have everything necessary for a typical gig in my car.

Typical gig requires:

2 Basses
1 Amp
1 Cab
Pedalboard
Gear Bag (cables, tools, mic, batteries, etc)
Folding Guitar Stand

Well, I just back from rehearsal and my NJ5 and strap in a bass bag, Markbass SD800 and rack/gig bag, stand, and Epifani UL-310 are still in the car.

I can be gone in under 30 seconds.

Any other time, about five or ten minutes, max. My practice / backup rig (see above) always stays in the house next to my computer desk. The big, big rig stays in the trailer, but frankly, its mostly an "ego" thing....I don't really need a 6x10 and 1500 watts to gig.

My basses are out on stands in the basement, next to my practice rig, and my pedal board is set up. But I only take just what I need out of my cord bag, so it's mostly ready to go. All I have to do is roll up the cords I was using in my practice rig, put the pedal board into its case, put two basses into my double gig bag, and put my practice head into my cord bag (it's my back-up amp) and either take my 112 cab upstairs (also part of my practice rig) or load my main rig from upstairs in the piano room. Grab the smallest folding bass stand from the basement. Getting it all loaded into the car takes about 20 minutes.

Now if I just gigged the night before and everything is still packed up and sitting upstairs, only about 10 minutes to load it into the car. But I like to try and practice every day so unless I have a gig I take it back downstairs the day after a gig and set up the practice rig again, plus that's where most of the bands I play with rehearse.

It really depends on how recent my last gig was, and how motivated I have or haven't been to unload/get it all out. So it could be anywhere from minute man to 10 minutes, but I don't see how it'd be unrealistic for anyone to not be read in 10 minutes or less unless you keep your gear somewhere else.

I have pretty much everything down to a science. Every gigbag has a power cord and instrument cable, and all the incidental needs. Each effects bag (there are two) is usually looked at the night prior to ensure what needs to be in there is (thinking of doubling up on some effects for ease). The big amp usually stays at the rehearsal area, allowing me to schlep around the small one when needed.

I don't have anything packed and ready to go, but realistically, 20 minutes would do it. I know where everything is and I can get it quickly if I'm in a pinch.

I am constantly evaluating my setup to minimize the hassle factor and to reduce the amount of stuff I have to schlep while still being sufficiently equipped.
