Your current bass is just fine.
Its great actually.
You need to take it to a good “bass” tech and them dress the frets and adjust the action and pickup height.
If you can, try to find someone with a Pleck machine.
And make sure the tech is an experienced BASS player. Guitar techs are always messing up basses. Lol
(Im half joking when I say that. There are plenty of people that can set up a guitar and a bass. But honestly, a bass player knows what feels right for bass players.)
