How should I stack my cabinets?

I have an SWR Black Beauty combo with a 15-inch speaker. I just bought an SWR cab with 4x10 and a horn. On stage, what's the best way to stack them? Should the 4x10 or the 15 be on top to get the best sound?

410 usually - but try it and see.

Considering the size of the black beauty, I would put it either on top of the 4x10...or put them side by side.

BTW, how do you like the BB? I have been gassing for one of these recently.

I like the convenience and power of the BB. For quieter gigs, it's fine with the one 15; louder gigs need an extra cab for higher end sounds. I guess my only complaint would be the weight; it's over 100 lbs and can be a bear to lift by yourself.

i would pu the 15 ontop so you can get to the faceplate

you will hear and feel everything better if they are both sitting on the floor beside each other . then you will still have easy access to the controls . everywhere i can i lay my 810 on its side and it sounds a lot bigger .....

I assumed some of the 410 frequencies might become lost/buried if the cab was on the ground.

no , bass freq feed off off being bounced . thats why cabs sound bassier and thus feel louder when they are on the floor . you may loose some of the higher tones since its not stacked and closer to your ears . but also be aware that on hollow boomy stages you can have usually a 150 hz boost and cause a rumbling through mic stands and give your sound man a little something to earn his money for ... lol lol so i usually stomp around a little on stages to get its soility and then adjust the main eq to compensate . but if your band dont run a lot of subs then you probably have no worries ...

Here's how I decide how to stack:

1) Whatever config is more stable. If it doesn't matter much, then

2) Whatever config sounds better. If that doesn't matter much, then

3) Whatever config looks cooler



Note that taller stacks usually sound better for a variety of reasons...
