1.75 inches. On all of my basses (because I put P-bass necks on 'em). 1.5 inches is also very common, or, you could make like Stanley Clarke and have a nut width of 1.4 inches.
I bet it is really a pain to hold a neck that is 1,5 " THICK...

No it isnt... feels just right for me..

You still don't get it, do you? This thread is about how THICK the neck is, not how WIDE the neck is.
I am also talking about a thickness of 20 mm. This would be too small for the width, so that might ring a bell.
But anyways, this isn't the first time this happens on TB and you're also not the only one within this thread. So I removed all text, because apparently, no one is reading it anyway.
Call this case closed. I'll find it out myself..

Dude, calm the hell down! I misread, just trying to help.
Don't tell me what to do. In my OP I mentioned the thickness like at least 3 times and then, people start replying and they ALL misread... this is the third thread that evolves this way and I held my peace for two of those and now I am irritated, because posting threads doesn't seem very useful this way.

Someone's feisty today. Both thick and wide mean "the extent from one surface or side, to the opposite". If you weren't being such a b**** about it, you might have gotten the answer you were looking for.![]()
current build: .800" (20.3mm) designed thickness, no taper.

Yeah I am.. don't blame me for it. I was hoping for some feedback and it got me nowhere. You're right about the definition of the thickness, but since I was talking about shaping the neck and about 20 mm thickness, I thought it was clear, but I guess it's my fault. English isn't my native language so I might miss some nuances there..
