At this point? Just this: good luck. 
A typical response one might encounter on TB.
"I see you're a master of subtlety and sarcasm."
Which in itself is both a subtle and sarcastic comment.
Translation:
You aren't very good at handling subtle or sarcastic comments.
One needs to learn to understand when someone is being sarcastic.
One also needs to understand subtle comments as opposed to the exact words being said.
Both are strategies commonly used in communications.
They often are not as effective in written communications as they are in person.
Someone who has not yet developed those skills sometimes has trouble grasping the meaning of a subtle or sarcastic statement.
A common phrase for it is "Reading Between the Lines."
More technically, someone is saying something by implying it rather than stating it directly.
For an implication to work, the person on the receiving end of the comment needs to be practiced at inferring a meaning from what is being stated.
Sometimes a person who hasn't quite honed those skills, feels threatened by what they don't understand.
The result could be that the person becomes defensive.
This is clearly more difficult to process with strangers, but it is often not too far removed from when a buddy makes fun of a good friend. The good friend has the context of that friendship to help him understand that his buddy is not actually attacking his character. With strangers, and with the wrtten word, it takes more practice.

This is a great example of how muscians should present themselves on the internet.

OP: I'm being blunt because, if you're I'm NYC, you have such an incredible advantage to learn the music industry simply by living in NYC. Yes, it is competitive as hell, but living rent free with your parents in he music capital of the world. Dude - use that advantage.

Please note the "if" portion of the statement. By living in NYC, you have an incredible advantage. If you can't take advantage of that, then your odds are close to zero. Go out and do it. You'll make mistakes, but do it. Do not wait for "it" to come to you.

I do these videos for fun. I love the bass guitar.
And your love really shows through.
Part of my day job involves working as support staff for college level instruction for video production.
We've had grads go on to work anywhere from local TV stations to the Olympics and Hollywood.
YouTube is flush with good ideas for videos that are nothing but average at best due to poor production quality.
In a day when full feature films can be shot on an iPhone, most folks think that's all they need. They miss the fact that there's more to it than point and hit the record button. It's nice to see you setting the bar higher.
It's not just what one individual thinks. I share that opinion and am sure I'm far from the only other person who does.
See a lot of us did things on our own initiative like hang around outside bars when we were several years too young to get into listening and if we were lucky getting to talk to the players on a break. We took lessons from the best pros in town and early on got schooled in what it takes to make a living. We worked our butts off practicing on our own and in bands until someone would give us a gig. Then we kept working hard and eventually got to the point we could make a living....it took me 5-6 years back in the late 70's early 80's when it was MUCH less difficult to get enough gigs to pay the bills.
Today there are far fewer gigs and they pay a whole lot less. It's always taken an almost super human amount of drive and dedication but these days it takes that much more. If someone so incredibly fortunate to be coming up in a place with gigs and hundreds of amazing players to learn from 7 nights a week hasn't figured that out and chooses instead to get on an internet forum and annoy players who've done the work, gotten the gigs and are only trying to help him it seems a reasonable leap of logic to give him little or no chance of making it.
