How to connect my two pedals?

I have an EBS multicomp and a Sansamp Bass Drive DI. My amp also has Effect loop (send & return).
What is the correct way to connect this pedals on my amp to use them just for practice with my band and what is the correct way to use them on a gig with a PA system?

This answer can be found through a search, but...

For amp: Comp -> DI -> Amp (do not use effects loop, that is for rack effects which are line level, not pedals which are instrument level)

For PA: Comp -> DI -> PA (with or without a parallel out to your amp)

While you're on the subject; I use a SansAmp DDI and a Boss ME50B multi effects, but I'm having difficulty using both together as the levels are all over the place. I've tried placing the SansAmp before and after the ME unit, but can't find a decent level - any suggestions?
