How to get this dirty sound playing without pick?

Hi everyone!

I'd like to get some infos about an effect that emulates as close as possible this kind of sound

I think it could be a distorsion or overdrive (or fuzz?), but unfortunately I don't know almost anything about these kinds of effects...

Furthermore:
- maybe the song has been played with pick
- at the moment, I cannot "try" something: so I need a "sure" opinion on a focused effect pedal
- if possible, I'd like to pay not so much

I hope to get an effect that could generate a sound as dirty, grindy, round and fat as the track one but playing with finger (without a pick ).

A basic distorsion pedal will do the trick. There are plenty of threads out there about preamps and overdrives. A fuzz will be too much.
You'd better learn to use a pick for this kind of sound. A pick costs a few hundred cents, a pedal a few hundred dollars... If you really can't, or won't, use a pick, maybe try to play closer to the bridge and pluck the strings hard. It will do the trick I think.

If you're really dead set against a pick, EHX make something called the Steel Leather which will boost your attack. I don't think they cost a great deal either.
