How to get this tone? Jack Wilkins - Red Clay

Does this sound like flatswounds on a pbass or jbass? Or round wound? Hard to say... It's actually really hard to get this sound on my pbass with flats, amped? DI? Either way I absolutely love this bass tone!

Sounds more J Bass w Flats to me since there is a little more of that upper midrange. I relate that sounds to my jazz bass.

To me, it sounds like P-Bass with flatwounds and a pick. And "interesting" EQ-- pretty clanky, for me. But I listened on my phone without ear buds or headphones, so I could be wrong.

Yep, he used to play occasional stealth weeknight small venue gigs in Westport CT back when I lived in that area and it was much easier to get in to see him than many of the other usual suspects.
