How to get this tone (Okvsho - Between Us)

Hi all you great people!

I really dig the bass tone in this song by Okvsho and I would love to pick your brains about it.

Between Us by Okvsho:


Questions:

1. For those of you with more experience / more discerning ears, what equipment would you use to achieve this tone? What kind of bass, strings, pedals, settings, etc? I'm not really looking for advice on how I could replicate this tone myself, just keen to hear your thoughts on how it could've been done.
2. What kind of words would YOU use to describe this bass tone? I know that this can be a subjective thing and the same tone adjective could mean 3 different things to 2 different people. That said, I would like to hear what kind of words/phrases you guys would use.
3. Any recommendations for songs with similar tone?

I'm a bit of a tone newbie, so I am keen to hear your thoughts.

Any P with worn in strings gets you there...if you have your technique down enough.
Its not a sophisticated tone in itself..but it is time honoured to work.
I'd call on it from time to time but I'd use a Jazz with rounds..that are due for changing.
But if the mood hit me...thats how I'd be able to approach it

Bartolini pickups is the first thing that came to mind. Can't get enough of that punchy, smooth tone.
That may not be the case here, but over the years I've associated this type of tone with them.
