I’ve tried Scotch Brite, various grades of steel wool and sandpaper. Best results I got were with 600 grit sandpaper. It leaves a fantastic feeling playing surface and doesn’t gloss up too quickly. Use it judiciously and you won’t be in any danger of going through most regular finishes.
