Discussion in 'Technique [BG]' started by fivesevenoh, Dec 6, 2003.

  1. every time I try to mute notes (while slapping), a harmonic comes out. how do i mute a note, while slapping, without the harmonic?

Don't try to mute the slap where there are harmonics. You can mute the string in other places.

    This may take some practice.

Use more than one finger to mute. When I slap, every left hand finger that is not fretting a note is muting. And I pop mostly with my ring finger. So my index and middle finger are helping with muting too.

If you mute a string in two or more places, harmonics will not ring out.

Yea, also whenever possible try to slide up the neck for mutes, u get a way sharper sound. not too easy on fast slap songs tho
