Is it "PIE" zo OR "PEE- EH" zo?

Just to add to the fray, I worked in the ultrasonic engineering field for a short time, and we pronounced it PIE-ZO. And way back in high school, my friend's dad, who was an electrical engineer, also pronounced it PIE-ZO, so that's what stuck with me.

Hmmm
Well, here is the Wikipedia reference:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piezoelectric
which has it as "pee ay zo" at the top.

However, if you dig a little harder and look at the OED:

You find that "pee ay zo" is correct in the US, while "pee zo" is common in the UK.

But, the otherwise good folks in the UK pronounce aluminum as "aluminium;" so, they do tend to glorify things a bit.:D
Guess if you go on the road in the UK, you can get away with "pee zo."

Don't see any reference to "pie zo;" but, whatever floats your boat.
