How to record using Garageband and MXR M80

I first want to thank everyone for taking the time to answer all of our inquiries.

I'm somewhat new to recording and would like to record audio from my Dunlop MXR M80. My signal is my Bass- MXR - Focusrite Scarlett - Garageband (Macbook)

How do I go about this?

DI's usually have a mic-level output signal. So you use a XLR cable and connect the M80 to the mic-input(!) of the Focusrite and the Focusrite to your mac and press record in Garageband.

any microphone XLR-to-XLR cable is good (there're also speaker XLR cables and XLR-type cables for more exotic applications that have more than 3 pins). something like this or this
