How to remove 'Basslines' logo from pickup?

It looks like a screenprint...what solvent would take the logo off of there? They are 5-string J-pups (SJ5 67/70) and have a texture on the surface, not glossy. This is on a US Lakland JO5 (lefty) and the logo looks tacky.

Hmmmm, I'm afraid it would be odd looking because the pup isn't a totally black black...have you used this method?

I removed mine with nail polish remover. Came off very easy, paper towel and just a little rubbing, gone.

i used a light buffer on a dremel tool and it came of pretty easy albeit unintentional.

Mine's about gone after playing over it for about 6 months.
Went from dull to glossy too!

I used to use those exact pickups and agree with you. I just took the covers off and buffed the whole thing. Left it glossy but uniform looking. You could always use some steel wool if you wanted to de-gloss them a bit.

I know. What I am saying is that after buffing the whole cover to get the logo off and have it look uniform in appearance, you could de-gloss it again if the buffing left it too glossy for your taste.

Wow...finally got that logo off, but it wasn't easy!! I started with nail polish remover and that barely did anything, then steel wool which got most of it. Ended up sanding with 335 grit and then going back over it with steel wool. It's far from beautiful, but it's off of there!

You could always go with the Lakland Js, which don't have a logo. IMHO they sound a bit better, but the Duncans sound good too. Very direct.

That's what i removed, pickles. The Lakland J's had an open circuit in the bridge pu and the neck pu measured a whopping 11.75k ohms!

thats cause wd-40 isnt really a solvent, and if it is.. its reallly weak. WD-40 is designed to displace water from something, thus preventing rust.

WD = Water Displacement
40 = They got it on their 40th attempt at making a solution

hence - WD-40

Just use acetone (whats in nail polish remover) very lightly, and make sure and clean it all off after. Something like Acetone or even just Paint thinner (100% Mineral Spirits kind) Wont melt plastic unless you leave it for over a minute, so if you just apply, rub, and dry/clean it after, your fine. its putting it on then leaving it there which will allow it to eat away at the plastic.

Tried nail polish remover and it didn't melt the plastic, didn't remove logo either. I don't know what they're using over at Seymour's place, but it's tough stuff!!

BTW, I de-stickered a whole motorcycle once with WD-40!
