how to remove the tweeter from a pf-115?

Hello!

I completely live the tone from the Portaflex Rig. (pf500 + 2x pf-115).

The problem is that the tweeter rattles when playing certain notes. I mean that the whole tewwter resonates and makes noise, when turned off.

I NEVER use the tweeter. NEVER, so I thought I could just remove it from one of the cabs for recording.

The problem is that I dont know how to reach it!
Is there a way of taking of the grill? of from inside the cab?

Lift the lid, and disconnect the wires from the circuit board. Tape up ends with electrical tape to prevent shorting. Leave in cab, though, as you don't want a hole in the front of your cab throwing off the tuning or causing distortion.

BUT...have you checked the screws that hold it in to see if they're loose?

+1 with JimmyM's recommendation.

Take out the tweeter and you'll have added another port to the cab. Check the mounting screws first to make sure they're tight, but then your thought about damping the driver with a substance (silicone, etc) might work.

Make sure the mounting bolts/screws are tight. Your idea about the weather stripping seems like a good one.

Checking the screws seems like a great place to start.

Another option would be to make a cork gasket for the tweeter. This would eliminate the adhesive properties of silicone. This really only matters if there is any chance the tweeter will need to be removed. You can get thin cork at art & hobby stores like Hobby Lobby or from auto parts stores.

Drastic measures.
-buy some silicon-glue (those tubes you can put in a glue-gun)
-fill out the tweeter/horn
-unscrew the tweeter and put silicon on the edge of the tweeter cut-out in the cabinet
-put tweeter back in
-set tweeter knob to off and never touch it again!

Voila, no rattles or buzzezzzz

Thanks you everyone for the repy!

The problem is to the PF115 especific, I cant seem to acces to the screws... Neither to adjust them, nor to remove the whole tweeter!

I will send a picture tonight or tommorrow....

I can try the foam

That's the big A logos, not the script logos that are on the PF cabs. They're just pressed into the holes, not screwed on, and won't have any bearing on whether you can take the grill on or off. Wish I had more info on getting them apart for you, but I sold mine a few months ago to buy a bass.
