How to "un-suede" suede?

I have a few of the inexpensive, basic Levy's leather straps that Jason (bassstringsonline.com) is selling. Nice. But the suede on the back is just a bit too sticky for me. Anybody know how to make it less sticky?

(funny - most people advocate suede straps because they're grabby, and here I am wanting to go the other direction....)

I would try with some sand paper...

You can't 'unsuede' suede, and sand paper will do nothing.

Try spraying it with water and rubbing it flat with your finger. Leather is malleable when wet, but don't stretch it.

I don't suppose you have considered using the strap wit the suede side out have you?
