How would you do this (fuzz face content)

I've been looking into the Singlecross lately for the same reason; dirt and mods in the high chain, compression in the low.
How do you blend the signals back together again? (assuming you don't bi-amp)
Any phase issues? Hollow mids?

I plan to buy the Singlecross and do exactly what you speak of: compression (and octaver) for the lows and dirts for the highs. I plan to do the blending (if needed) via the "merge" function on my Radial JDI…

Turns out the real solution was just getting the Jimi Hendrix Fuzz Face, It's not quite as compressed and gnarly as the EJ FF but more gnarly than the germanium…. If you can quantify "gnar", that is.

interestingly, the Jimi Hendrix FF seems to boost treble if you have the volume control past 3 o'clock but before it, it's actually pretty flat

you talking the 90's pedal? Big black circle or red box mxr sized? Those are germanium too, just he value is wrong hence the ultra gnar. It's like 10 or 100 times the value of standard transistors in there so ultra high gain.

but like you I also liked it. I replaced them with some legit germanium ones and didn't like it as much, I liked the original incarnation better

The big teal/aqua coloured one. It's pretty great but I think I'm going to get a boost built in so it can get louder without having to take the original ff volume control above 3pm (and thus keeping the signal flat). I'd definitely like to see if the small one is the same.

i think you may have been talking about the Band Of Gypsys Fuzz Face maybe? Red with white knobs? I've had that and the 3 knob BoG fuzz that is derived from it, I really wanted to love it but it has a weird pick attack I couldn't get over
