I'm starting to realize that there are tons of people from all over the world posting here. I noticed that there are lots of other ways to say bass in other languages.

What is your mother tongue and how do you say...

    • BASS
    • BASS GUITAR
    • ELECTRIC BASS
    • DOUBLE BASS

Let's see if we can find 101 ways to say bass! :smug:

In Spanish, it can be "bajo", "bajo eléctrico" or "guitarra bajo". Some people call it "bajo de pecho" ("chest bass").

On the other hand, the double bass is just called "contrabajo". Electric upright is called "baby" or "bajo baby", although I prefer to call it "contrabajo eléctrico".

I've always said that I'm a 'bass player' when asked. However, when I talk about my basses I informally refer to them as 'guitars.' :bag:

In brazilian Portuguese we would normally say:

    Baixo
Guitarra baixo (but nobody says it that way. It sounds weird, in fact)
    Baixo elétrico
    Contrabaixo
