How's it hangin?

Anyone have (or have seen) a great system to hang a few basses on a wall?

I was thinking slatwall with hurcules brackets or some planks of lumber mounted to the wall. I want to display at least 40 instruments.

Any unique ideas?

GC uses a pretty good system and it even holds them well in earthquakes which happen all the time in SoCal.

I use the FretRest hanging system, and no complaints at all. I just don't use their original screws and use my own.

I use String Swings. About $10 a pop on sale.

I used StringSwing's slatwall system. They sell individual sections of slatwall as rails so you don't need to cover the whole wall.

the smaller sections of slat wall might be the ticket for me - I don't trust the individual StringSwing or FretRest hangers to hold on their own, since my wall is concrete... I plan to mount something to the wall first (with many anchor points) & then mount the hangers to the more stable material...

I'm considering "live edge" lumber slabs (just raw cut tree trunks - kiln dried) - I think it would do nicely, if there was only one board (but I need many & it could look like a mish-mash-mess... maybe some re-claimed barn wood...

I use String Swings. About $10 a pop on sale.

Those popped out of the wall on me. Twice. Once was for a bass that I didn't care about, but it still got a nasty ding out of it. The other was for a 1968 P-bass. Fortunately, that one landed on the bed. Both were anchored into studs.

BE CAREFUL WITH THESE TYPES OF HANGERS. I'll never use them again.

I got 3 hangers off of eBay (sorry, forget the seller) and used 2 big deck screws to secure each onto a stud. Works perfectly.

Can anyone recommend a material to cover the hook that will not react with a neck's finish? Lacquer tends to react to plastics, and the foam on one of my hooks has discolored a polyurethane finish on a neck.

A few = 40? Way to downplay...

I use the metal-backed string swings, and they use a non-marking padding.

I'll agree, the screws they come with are inadequate, but I switch-em out. My only real complaint is that I can't hang my Parker on them.
