hulk = underrated & iron man =overrated

I'd also agree with Maki's assertion that they're B-role heroes. Spider-Man, FF are "A-list" for Marvel. DC - Superman, Batman, etc.

Personally, not to derail the thread, but I'd LOVE to see a Green Lantern movie (as long as it's Hal Jordan and not John Stewart, Guy Gardner, or Kyle Rayner, though Gardner would be tolerable if done right).

I'd love to see a Flash movie, Barry Allen if they do Hal Jordan or Jay Garrick if its Alan Scott.

Not to derail further, but me too. Sadly, it doesn't look good. From JMS: "Whether or not it ever gets made I don't know because they were kind of disappointed in how 'Fantastic Four 2' did," Straczynski said. "And given how this will be a subset of FF2 in terms of the marketing strategy, I think there is hesitation there about putting it forward. The script is pretty good, I like it, but whether or not it goes into production, I have no idea."

And rumored director Alex Proyas (Dark City) supposedly declined because "...I’m determined never to work with them [Fox] ever again because of my experience on ‘I,Robot.’”

Which again makes me think it'll only happen after the rights revert back to Marvel. Based on what we've seen tho, that may end up being a great thing in the end. (fingers crossed)

Good news for a couple of you guys...they *are* making a Green Lantern movie and I believe I've read that other DC guys like The Flash are in the works for movies.

I was entertained by the new Hulk flick, whereas I was bored by the first. I think both films, though, had positive qualities and big drawbacks. Take the best of both and you have something mildly interesting. But, the Hulk/Banner duality doesn't match Jekyll/Hyde as far as story/philosophy; that's perhaps the best comparison I can make.

Iron Man was severely overrated and downright clunky at times, but it had enough positives to keep me interested. And I will say my heart raced the first time he took the suit out for a flight. That says something to me about the possibilities of these movies.

I don't know, give me Superman II any day. "Kneel before ZOD!"

The Hulk (directed by Ang Lee) was edgy, nuanced, and different. People didn't like it because there was too much talking and not enough smashing. True, the effects weren't amazing, but the story was pretty good, and Eric Bana was a superior Bruce Banner.

The Incredible Hulk (the new one), is heavy on smash, little on story, and the effects still suck. Edward Norton is a weak Bruce Banner.

Iron Man was superbly directed, with a good story, good acting, and was a lot of fun. Flawless? No, but certainly superior to either Hulk movie.

Good points, John. I can still dream though, of a GL movie done the right way :) Of course to get the required depth would be along the lines of Peter Jackson LOTR directors cut, and even then, too many of the masses wouldn't comprehend it. :hiding:
