Hum / Buzz on One Bass

Hey all, I have a bit of a head scratcher here. I have a Sterling Ray34 that has a loud hum that goes away when I touch the strings. I shielded the control cavity; no help.

When I go direct into the amp, the buzz goes away.

When I go through my Fender DownTown pedal with compression ON, the buzz is back. When compression is OFF, its fine. No buzz. So, you would think its the pedal, right?

here's what is weird - NONE of my other basses do this - I tested 5 others today and it only occurs with the Ray. Where should I check next? Any ideas?

thx all!

Are you using the correct power supply?
