hysteria with -1- pedal?

Oxide is great for tiro too!

I loved both very nice man! And my hats off to you! The way you play hysteria is inspirering. I really dig the ...tempo? used there. I'm not sure how to phrase it (i'm a frenchy from montreal hehe) i'm refering to the little hickups in between sections that make my head follow the beat even more :)

What setting where you using on the oxide?

I did a quick try using first the Mammoth clone and then the Darkglass B7K.

In the room with the bass cabinet I think the B7K actually works better for my tastes, although I don't know if that translates into the direct recording for the video.

Nice! Somehow i always use my B7K as an amlost clean pre... And forget how badass it actually is. I also prefer the B7K, mind sharing some settings also?

Thanks to all who are replying to the thread, i really like seing how real people do different versions of this song. I'm sure if people heard any of the covers here they'd go hellz yeah! That bass is bad ass!!

I think they all get close, very close. And, honestly, they could all get closer with just a bit of EQ fiddling. I think the You're Doom could get close but it would need a bit of dirt before it to get all out like that. Maybe if fed by a barbershop or PorkLoin. But, all very close.

Anyone remember that one guy who would get like, personally offended if anyone did anything Muse and it wasn't with the "proper Wolstenholme gear and technique". I just imagine him thinking of this thread and being jolted out of bed in a cold sweat :D

He had already been mentioned. He hasn't been around in in a while.

On the Mastotron VS Mammoth thing, I always wondered why ZVex priced the Mammoth so expensive when it did not even handle active basses well (and never bothered to fix that in a v2 build). All the while, having the mastotron that sounds eerily similar, priced much lower, and works well with active basses.

Then, very recently, another TBer informed me that the Mammoth was designed by someone else and ZVex has to pay that person royalties. The Mastotron is a ZVex design that is probably created to be very very close to the mammoth, without some of its drawbacks.

So, honestly, clones aside, the Mastotron may very well be a very good alternative to a mammoth.

As for chasing the last 10%, if it makes you happy, fine. But, at some point, playing has to be fun too ;)

A Muff and a Rat in parallel with a clean blend can almost nail the Hysteria sound. Obviously not a one-pedal solution, but the Rat sounds close enough to the Animato for the average listener.

1pedal... That's it!!!! :)

It's really cool how all these diffrent options add a bit of spice here and there, it's like making your own version of mom's spaghetti sauce. The important thing to remember is that no matter wich pedal you use... It must be played with a red bass.

I agree, it's nonsense to have the mindset of "you can't get close unless you have his gear". But that guy did a really good job and spent a lot of time and money finding that stuff out.. the b7k video was really good! I think the aguilar agro gets super close too, especially if you crank the presence and contour knobs.

And I'm sure there are some folks who might come here for the first time all hyped up about getting into effect! For these guys, being told you need 2k and a red bass to play XX song will be of no help at all. On the other hand seeing how a bunch of guys are having a ball with a song using different effects and each one making it their own, now that would make we want to read on.

Many thanks! Can't help you with the exact setting i used as i didn't note it down. 10 mins of trial and error will get you there.
