hysteria with -1- pedal?

I also use the B7K as an almost clean pre. But it has such a killer drive, I wish I played music where I could use all that anger...

Anyway, the settings I used for the recording were:
Blend: 1:00
Level: 1:00
Drive: 1:00
Low: 12:00
Treble: 11:00
LoMids: 11:00
HiMids: 1:00
Grunt: Fat
Attack: Off

The eq would of course be different to sound right on your system. I think it gets the flavor well enough. Of course listening to the Muse track it sounds like there is some octave divider thing going on too. But I also played it with NO effects and it sounded pretty good that way too, especially if you play over or close to the fingerboard and let the strings bounce off the frets. And that's with flatwounds!

For Madness, someone posted settings that get extremely close in the source audio thread. It uses the OFD and Manta. You just download the scene if you have the hub, load it and you are good to go.

So I tried Uprising today at practice with the duality, then the berhinger sf300, then your doom.

Ended up as 1 pedal I used the duality and cranked the midst on my American deluxe jazz. But for 2 pedals The your doom, vintage deluxe sounded awesome.... the sf300 cuts through 2 guitars no problem.

That's a really good point.

I give the poster in question* a ton of credit for what he did. He combined a ton of research and a lot of experimental testing to get those tones, and they were quite convincing. However, his attitude was a turn-off. At one point he claimed he was the "first person to get a convincing Hysteria tone." Uh, not really. 90% can be plenty convincing. He was chasing that 10%, maybe even the last 1%, and that's fine if that's what he wants to do. But don't be so self-important about it, or claim that the approximations other use are unacceptable when they're really not.



*Unnecessarily complicated clue for people who don't know who we're talking about. Whatever happens if concussions really catch up to the NFL? Then it will be a...

Thanks! I think its important to share ways to get these tones cheaply and easily (The less pedals the better!) Whilst i appreciate what kaputsport was doing, the average gigging musician in a cover band doesnt want to go out and spend mega cash to cover the odd 1 or 2 songs, they want to use whats on their board already (or spend as little as possible)
Essentially his videos are useful if you want to be in a Muse cover band and have thousands in cash lying around.
Hysteria, Russian muff (£100) blended with through Human gear animato (£350) using an ls2 (£80), so £530 & 3 pedals for 1 song...or just buy a duality or prunes for £170, i know what id pick.

People who obsess about having "the right Wolstenholme gear" make me sad. I have a lot of respect for the man, but it's partly based on his having created his own sound with what was available at the time, "hot or not". I've heard that when Chris Wolstenholme started using the Deep Impact, it was sitting in GC bargain bins, getting few takers at $99 bucks a pop....if he were starting out on the same road now, he'd surely try the Duality, TAFM, Oxide....but only after seeing if a Behringer SF300 would do the trick.

I would buy a pedal from either of them if I had the cash. Just read the 'cracked the Animato' thread... Both very smart dudes and I'm impressed that both very openly share their ideas and hard work with others where many would not. I think the prices are very fair especially concidering the hard work, low build numbers and quality.
