I’m back: 15” cab question

Looking for a car that will sound good, not loud. I’m planning to use a PF – 50 T as my home studio rig and would like to pair it with a warm sounding 15 inch speaker. I have an Ashdown 410/ RM500 set up for band settings and an Acoustic 301/370 in the garage so want this to be a tone machine in an apartment.

Suggestions?

Mesa Subway 15 is my favorite 15 ever, but the Ampeg PF-115HE might be a better fit for what you are describing. Warmer, doesn't have to be as loud, and of course they are not expensive.

Do you know if the 115HE retains the ability to be a flip top with the head?

I stumbled into a used Bergantino NV115 on the used market that was priced so cheap that I couldn't not buy it It definitely scratches the itch of "warm sounding tone machine" to paraphrase your earlier post. They're no longer in production but do pop up from time to time on the used market. Worth a look if you can find one.

(I just happen to own a PF50-T amp, a PF115he, a PF112hlf, (among other PF cabinets), and a Subway 115. All great cabinets to pair with the PF50-T).

I have a VB115 that fits the bill,I used it with a th500 and it sounds really good, and it only 36lbs

RevSound RS115 is the warmest 15 I’ve played. Big bottom end, softer but present highs. Great sounding cab, and David is great to deal with too.

I’ve got a good set of Sennheiser HD280s and am pretty conscious of sound for sure. But you know “for science” haha

Ampeg pf115lf may be what you are looking for from what you describe. I love mine for that reason. By itself or paired with another cab, it has a great tone. I generally use it alone with my pf500 or paired with my RB210.

The Ampeg PortaFlex does indeed fit flipped inside the cabinet. My cab has over 400 gigs on it but the head burned out around gig #150. So I ended up replacing it with a different head, since it wasn't worth fixing it.

I often run a PF-20T through an ancient old Sonic 1x15 with a front slot port. That can had evey driver under the sun in it over the last 30 years. Currently my fav 15 the Faital Pro PR-400. Kinda JBL'ish. Nice smooth highs but more substantial lows. That setup can get kinda modern'ish or very B-15'ish. I no longer gig the PF-20 T but I really like thT setup a lot.
