My first bass amp was one of these (plus castors). I "upgraded" to an Ampeg RB and gave the Acoustic away to a local high school. I had trouble selling it.

I really miss that 15" behemoth honestly. It had its own flavor and the notch filter was interesting. I don't really care where the controls are.

I think I paid $60 for it.

That was my first combo, Loud amp and new player is a bad combination.

I used to gig with this big boy, a Fender BXR300c 85lbs 200 watts to the internal 15" speaker. It makes a lot of other 1x15 combos look like toys. Photo is not my amp, just an internet find.

Don't they put the controls on your phone nowadays?

(The controls on my '63 B-15 are not on my phone). They are on the front where they belong.

I don't use it often, but if I play a small venue, it can do the job. It tilts back and has controls in the front.

I like diagonally mounted controls, that face up at a 45° angle when the amp is vertical. Not very common though.

When you flip out the ol' kickstand on the bottom of the cab the knobs come up about 30 degrees. The best of both worlds.

Unless it's a Fender BXR300c! I imagine a proper caveman combo would be a 4x15 in a 24cuft box with built in dual 200+ watt tube amps for stereo effects. And a couple of shoulder straps to be able to lug around a 300+ pound combo. This amp might be enough scare sabertooth tiger into a trap.

I'm not really brand loyal, I've had some "meat & potatoes" combos (Peavey, Crate, Yorkville), it's just more of a functionality factor for my shrimpy self. I can't hear them down by my feet, and if I raise them to ear-ish level, I can't see the controls.

That was my first amp too. I hated the notch control because I couldn't turn it off. I wound up plugging directly into the effects return most of the time, but you lose volume control that way. It was also an awkward carry and heavier than I wanted.
