He told a story about doing the right thing. However, the story appears to be fictional. Therefore, he didn't actually do the right thing.
If anything, he did a number of wrong things. He lied about doing a good deed and also lied about police and emergency people that made them look bad just to make himself look good. Not cool.

Being a new TB'er I've only posted in the OP's threads a few times, this here thread and 'The Greek Landlord' thread. I find the whole thing bizarre! Attention, boredom, respect, acceptance? Even if he confessed up, it would still be weird, but I don't buy it, not 2 life savings in that space of time/place, the odd's against that are stupendously high.
The thing that made me suspicious (not initially, but eventually as it nagged at me more and more) was his claim that the police and other emergency personnel stood by and did nothing while he "saved her life". There's a number of things wrong with that. If her life was indeed in danger, I do not believe the cops and paramedics would stand there and do nothing while an untrained civilian passerby rescued the lady. And, if it was indeed a dangerous and life threatening situation, I can't imagine them letting the guy anywhere near the vehicle in the first place, let alone allow the guy to drag her out of the car. It just doesn't ring true at all.
Reading all of this makes me glad I never got around to posting about the time I pulled a burning building out of a baby. As soon as I got the building out, I noticed a truck careening out of control, heading right for us. I was able to toss the building up and away, getting hang time like a Ray Guy punt, before the truck hit me. It, of course, knocked me into the exact spot I had calculated the building would fall, thus, once more saving it. Since I was killed, I never had a chance to post this. It also kept me from being sued. I don't know why the news never picked up on this.
