I Blame You, TB...

I'm getting the feeling that the four major themes developing in what TB has done to youse is:

1. Fellowship
2. GAS increase/relief
3. Learning stuff
4. Cheetos prevention

And in one case, a poor fellow ended up in Stryper.

I learned on TB that you can have no discernible talent, no band, and no national-level recording credits and still have 50 endorsements. So, there's that.

I have no idea how endorsements work anymore. It used to be that a major label deal was a requirement. Now it seems that if you have a significant social media presence, you can get a deal? Is that right?

Also, I'm confused by the endorsing / endorsed by language that is used. I don't know the diff. Back when I had mine, I was endorsed by the company, the company gave me their endorsement.

TB has yet to explain that to me.

All that stuff is here if you search. One member used to speak about that constantly.

I owned one bass and no pedals for years and years. Since I found TB, I've bought and sold 3 Precisions, 1 Telecaster bass, P/Js, a Jazz, a Danelectro dolphin nose, a Birdsong cBass, and an Ibanez Soundgear. I bought a compressor, an octaver, a bass fuzz, a Q-tron, a tuner, and a clean boost. At the moment I have a Jazz and a P/J, and I'm looking longingly at ads for Sadowsky and Lakland basses. Has this improved my quality of life? Jury's still out. Is it fun? Yes.

Y'all are a bunch of GASsed up sickos.

I blame you specifically, two fingers.

Hey, they got me too. I own two complete bass rigs and three basses that came from TB classifieds. And the rest of the junk I own probably resulted from reading reviews here. So, I'm just passing it along.

P.S. Pics of this new pedal board or it didn't happen. "They" will come get us both if you don't. ;)

Kind of, yeah :D I hesitate to say that my Ampeg deal was all about social media presence since I play with some fairly high profile former rock stars of the 50's, 60's and 70's, but it was a good part of it. Basically, if it's provable that your social media presence sells gear and it's also provable that you're sincere about your opinions, you can sometimes get a deal. But it ain't easy for someone to get a deal that way unless it's a smaller company. Ampeg actually came to me and offered me a deal...I didn't go to them. Quite frankly, at the time, I didn't care one way or the other. I just thought their new gear was getting a bad rap because of the overseas move and thought it was quite improved over the old stuff, and people bought Ampeg gear and told them it was because of me. So it's not enough just to have social media presence...a level of sincerity and a track record of using their gear and loving it must be there as well.

I am an endorser. I endorse the gear I use and allow Ampeg (and for a brief period, EMG) to use my name as they see fit to sell amps. And while Ampeg is giving me their stamp of approval in a manner of speaking and I consider it quite prestigious, it's not like people buy tickets to our shows because they know I use Ampeg :D so the artist is the endorser.

Jimmy actually plays at a professional level in several bands and plays more than 2 gigs a year. And he never seems to go to NAMM shows. He's an old school endorser from a better, more magical time!

Nope, have not gone to a NAMM show yet. But it's only because NAMM always coincides with our yearly Bowzer show at Mohegan Sun Arena, and I ain't missing out on playing a sold out arena to hang out with musicians :D
