Exactly! the word underrated is used way too much for famous bass players on this forum. Patitucci is not underrated. He is well known and respected.

Patitucci is the best soloist of any bass player living or dead. And whomever is #2 isn’t close.

You can definitely make that argument.

Like Christian McBride, Patitucci has been so good for so long we.tend to take it for granted. He's not underrated by the best of the best that always hire him, Patitucci is a beast!

Christian McBride is a great comparison although McBride is a great bass guitarist, he really is known as an awesome Jazz double bassist. In fact, I think Christian McBride has the best tone of any acoustic Jazz bassist I have heard. I saw a funny video on Instagram of McBride playing Sting’s bass while Sting was still wearing it. Dude sounded better than Sting on Sting own song.
