I finally found my perfect pick

For me its either the Big Stubby (2 or 3 mm), or wierdly, the Jim Dunlop Jazz III in Ultex, which is tiny, but i just love those little things

Don't make too much fun of me for this, but after years of playing electric guitar, acoustic guitar, and bass, my currently favorite pick is the Peavey branded Marvel comics pics, specifically the one with the Punisher skull on it. I've made my own from maple and ebony, I've bought $10 picks. I was gifted the Marvel pics kind of as a joke, and I like them better than anything else I've used.

I've been using Pickboy ceramic grip picks (1.00mm) for years. That is, if I'm using a pick. I always have at least one with me, though.

I've just discovered that I really like rounded triangle picks. I'm using an extra heavy fender pick now, but I'm looking to experiment with other triangle picks.

I usually don't play with a pick and when I used heavy ones, but those are 0.88mm. Not soft, but they bend a little bit and it feels pretty cool and I started incorporating picked lines abit in my music.

After a bit of experimentation I've found that the celluloid Fender 351 medium pick works best for me. I pick with one of the two blunt ends, so the pick's shape conforms well to my finger and thumb, giving me a stress-free grip.

My favorite picks are Diadario black ice 1.1 mm thick. The are smaller like a jazz pick. I can play faster with these.

When it comes to playing with a pick I use the purple Dunlop .96 mm. For me I was primarily a finger player and thought a pick should never go near a bass. That all changed when I fell in love with the tone from a pick, and the fact the most of my influences are pick players. Now I do both finger and pick depending on the song and or the tone I'm going for.

I use the purple Dunlop .96 mm. At 1st I started off with the yellow .73 mm Dunlop because that's what duff Mckagan used. I quickly found that just because that's what works for my favorite bassist, doesn't mean it he right one for me. I bought a Dunlop variety pack and tried out all different sizes, shapes, thicknesses, grips and whatever else. After a while I noticed more and more I was feeling comfortable with this certain pick and that's the one I stuck with. Now, if I use a different gauge or type it's just not right for me.

Clayton Delrin picks don't slip out or grip strings. Green image, whatever gauge that is.

My main bass pick is the Dunlop Jazz iii Black Stiffo, though I switch between them and Carol Kaye's white teardrop shaped picks. Carol Kaye's are very comfortable, just longer. They have a great rounded edge that sounds great on flats. I lean toward the dunlop's because the red nylon Jazz iii is my main pick for guitar, so it keeps the size and shape consistent for me.

I started using a pick more this past year and have a variety of picks and all have been successful to some extent, but I've found I have a great deal of success with a thumb pick. I like being able to switch instantly from fingerstyle to pick with no issues.
