In 30+ years of playing, easily the most compelling example of a P bass that I've ever seen. As close to perfect as they come my friend.

That yellow splotch just below the truss rod screw is SOOOO pretty.
Damn it, why can't someone re-create the real beauty of original tortoise shell?

I'm pretty sure they killed real turtles for pickguards back then.

What a killer bass!

Reminds me of the '64 I owned for awhile. Mine had the transition logo, rather than the spaghetti logo, but was otherwise amazingly similar. In fact the former owner(s) must have had huge buckles because it was a lot more chewed up on the back. It had a wonderfully chunky neck, gorgeous tone, and was lightweight.

And nothing feels better to my left thumb than an old Fender neck where the nitro was worn away and replaced by player grunge.

Congrats! You lucky dog. Perfect bass. I just picked a 1969 Telecaster bass with the old single coil pickup with lots of MoJo too. There is nothing like the old dawgs.

Thanks! The body on mine is date 7/61 and the neck is dated 8/61. Pots date to the 7th week of '61.

Or better yet, to quote TB's own Joey Milstein: that bass has "MOJO MOXY and CLASS !!!".

Now all it needs is either a Kahler tremolo or 2TEK bridge & you're good to go...
