I Found My Big Bottom!

I have owned a Carvin BR510N combo for several months now. Although I really love it over all I have felt it lacked on the chest rumbling lower end of the spectrum. Well that just changed. I picked up a 1x15 extension cabinet and what a difference it makes! Not only does it really thump but now the head sits up high enough so I can easily reach the amp controls. Double bonus!:hyper:

What brand of 15 cabinet? Carvin? No name? Inquiring minds want to know!

Waiting for someone to chime in and say the don't mix driver size thing. Plenty already said about that through the search function. Though that Mesa Powerhouse 1200 with it's 15 + 4x10 could have me going against it. If it was so wrong then Mesa would not have built it.

I don't care as long as it sounds good! I have seen plenty of others mix driver sizes and the world has not exploded yet!:D

It is an old Crate Keyboard amp cabinet with a no name 15inch speaker in it. Someone gave it to me so I rehabed it into a bass cabinet. I am going to get a Carvin 15 inch neo driver to put in it soon.

That's kewl. Let us know how it sounds & transports w/the Carvin neo! Also, did you need make alot of adjustments to your settings? Or just adding the 15 cab made your sound fuller?

I tried it both ways to make sure and there is a definite difference with the extension cab plugged in. Much beefier lows!
For sure, for two reasons. Adding the second cab will cause the amp to deliver more power, and it increases the radiating efficiency of the system. The sum total could be as much as 6dB, which is the equivalent of quadrupling your power output. That much extra output will make it seem not only louder but lower as well. The same thing will happen with almost any two cabs.
