My husband owns the PA for our band. The only thing that kind of sucks is he and I are primarily the ones that have to lug it around. Those bass bins weigh a flippin ton!

Yeah, I understand that. I own the PA in our band. The rule is every member supplies their own mic, mic stand, and monitor. I load it into my truck from my garage. Once we get it to the gig, I don't touch it again until I unload it at my house. The band is responsible for lugging in and out and physical set up.
Rig is low end cost, but sound decent enough.
Berhinger 16 channel board, Berhinger 200 watt power amp - one side for mains, one side for monitors.
2 Sonic cabs with 15s and a horn.
100 foot snake.

I ran a Yamaha emx 660 for a few years because it sounded so good and was compact. I upgraded a couple years ago to a mackie dl1608 into qsc ksubs and k12's foh and k8's as monitors. Expensive but made life so much easier! I do kind of miss the simplicity of the Yamaha though.

I own enough gear to have 2 separate PAs. One is an EAW NT powered system consisting of 2 tops and 2 subs. With this rig I use a Presonus studiolive 16.0.2. The other PA is a pair of JBL PRX 535s over QSC HPR 151 subs. I use a Studiolive 16.4.2 with this rig. The BL in my band also has a pair of the 535s and 4 QSC HPR 181 subs. When we play bigger gigs we can use as much gear as needed.
