Well, it was delivered today… And actually one day earlier than expected! The Ibanez SRT800DX. Man this thing looks like it just came from the factory. Absolutely nothing wrong with it. Sounds good, plays good.
This is the first bass I have ever played that has EMG pick ups and an active EQ. Wow… what a difference versus my Fender bass. I had no idea how clear and powerful these things can sound. Not knocking on the Fender, but there’s a noticeable difference. Have a bass and treble boost/cut knob, A mid boost/cut knob and a mid frequency knob. Along with the pick up blend knob, and the overall volume knob.
I learned real quick with the 10 DB button is for on my amp!
Play around a little bit after work with it but I guess when the weekend comes, I’ll get more in-depth with it. I’m wondering if I should take it up to the local music store and have the guy do a set up on it? Action seems a tad high in my opinion. Last time I was messing around with my Fender bass I screwed it all up, trying to adjust the saddles and the truss rod, etc. Guy does it at a very reasonable rate.
I’m also wondering if some old guy owned this that I bought it from and he just played it on Sundays?
The thing is immaculate. Even the strings look and sound brand new. Pretty stoked to have gotten this and found it for such a great deal. Definitely cool to have something different in the arsenal.
Just bought the Mesa subway 410 on Saturday. Coupled with his bass, I’m really loving things. Might actually hold onto the GK MB500 amp a little longer than anticipated. Maybe play this for a little bit and see how I end up liking it instead of jumping and buying the Mesa D 800+.
At any rate, just thought I would post here to share my excitement.
