The neck arrived and it looks pretty nice. There are some issues at the heel I knew about.
And the fingerboard lifting slightly which I did not know about, but it got me a partial refund
It's all pretty easy to address. I've got a chunk of 3/4" thick maple (OK, by "chunk" I mean an old shelf that came in a cabinet I bought for $10 at goodwill and turned into a cat litter hiding cabinet

)
I'll get the board glued down, then cut out those bad spot, fill em with fresh maple, plug the other 2 holes, and I'll be ready to fit it.
The neck almost fits in the pocket as-is. It's so close that I think sanding the sides of the neck a little will get me there. The butt end of the jackson pocket must have a radius to it cause the neck heel ends in a rounded shape. I'll flatten that to match the Peavey pocket. I've got screws and ferrules on the way, as well as a Sadowsky noise canceling J pickup and a brass nut. Also got a shipping update this morning saying the Nova bridge will arrive Friday!
Neck repair and fit up are the 1st order of business. The neck transition into the pocket isn't an exact match (understandably so

), but there's enough meat on the neck that once it's attached, I can trace the Peavey pocket on it and shape it by hand to make it look like they were meant to go together.
I've never used the Nova bridge, I'm really hoping I don't have to sink it down into the body, but I'll see once the neck is on and I've got the bridge in hand. Hoping that neck shims will get me where I need to be.
I also ordered a brass nut and I want to run my plan past the hive-mind. With individual bridges, I don't want to have to ground them all. My thinking is ground one, and using a brass nut will connect the ground to the rest, yeah? The only issue I can see with the plan is if the nut has any sort of finish on it, but I don't think it does and I could easily remove it.
Hopefully the neck will be repaired and fit by the end of this weekend.
