Yeaaay! I freaking LOVE disco! Classic tunes with some truly great bass lines. I was brought up on this music in the '70's but oh to be old enough to be out playing that $h!t as it happened!

Ah, disco. I used to hate it, but now I like some of it. The dividing line between disco and funk is kind of murky, anyway. When it gets too "disco-ey"--lots of strings, really smooth--I'm out.

Good: Good Times (duh), Hollywood Swingin'.
Bad: "Do The Hustle", Silver Convention's "Fly Robin Fly" and "Get Up and Boogie"--the only lyrics were the titles, repeated over and over again. I'm sure those songs were fine in the club (which I was too young for), but that junk got played all the time on the radio.

Funk and Disco can be easily confused.....I was waiting for someone to say the Brothers Johnson video I posted was Funk and not Disco....haters will be haters, it is TB you know.......

For instance, long ago there was a disco compilation that included the O'Jays' "For The Love Of Money" and EWF's "Shining Star." Please.

Yes, funk and disco can sometimes be legitimately confused, but I have a problem when folks are just plain lazy about recognizing the difference. Calling the two aforementioned songs (and some folks even call Parliament's "Flash Light" disco) is akin to not recognizing the difference between the Rolling Stones and the Bay City Rollers. Lumping every '70s danceable funk tune into one "disco" bag is just ignorant.
