I hate cell phones.

i suscribe to the school of thought that it isn't cell phones that are the problem but people's use (abuse?) of them. i have one as a means of people (mostly my family and girlfriend) to get a hold of me when they need to. i barely use the thing save the above mentioned people.

what really burns me are the people that are slaves to the phone. i remember a year or so ago having a very deep conversation with a girl i was interested in. her phone started ringing in the other room and she ran off to answer immediately leaving our conversation alone in the air...very rude and needless to say that flame burned out quick

I am almost convinced cell phones are responsible for the dumbing of society among Americas youth. So many peoples lives now revolve around their cell phones. They even take pictures with their phones, I mean what the heck?

And you even see 14 year olds with cell phones now. What the hell does a 14 year old need a cell phone for, and how to they afford to make the payments?

I'm 15. I have a cell phone.


And there are times where I put it on vibrate, don't answer it, turn it off, or EVEN LEAVE IT AT HOME.

I know when I need it. Usually if I'm at home, I just use it as a mini phone book. Sometimes I call someone on my phone if I want to get intouch with someone ASAP (I'm a slow dialer). Usually, I'll call someone on the landline.

Hell, *** is up with people bringing their cell phones to SCHOOL?! I know no one is going to bother calling me during Biology.

Don't hate teenagers with cell phones. Hate stupid teenagers with cell phones.

I use a cell phone the way it was probably meant to be used. As a way for me to call people if I NEED to.

Being in the military, I don't wear it while in uniform (90% of the time). But I do have it everyday with me in the car. Mine is global too so I can be in the Middle East or Asia and still able to call home.

Once while mtn biking I had to use my cell to call a helicopter down to a mountainside because a fellow rider stacked head first and was badly injured.

When my current contract with Verizon expires, I will not renew it. I no longer want to own one. Over the past month, I have been using my cell phone less and less. I have discovered that I can do just fine without it. Besides, everyone I know has one, so there is always one around me. :D

I am going to start a new trend, people who do not own cell phones. When it becomes hugely popular to NOT have a cell phone, I will be the one who started the club.

And here we go with the duality of cell phones. It's really something that's somewhat facinated me. I rely on my cell phone, as do most people I know. Being tied to your house just to make plans just doesn't work. I could be anywhere at anytime, and the cell phone lets me do this. I had a phone since my official social life started, and I can't imagine how difficult coordinating things was before cell phones were mainstream. I can be in contact with my parents, friends, coworkers etc whenever, no matter where they are. If I'm lost trying to get to someone's house, I call. If my mom's worried that I'm drinking, she can call to determinel if I'm coherant. (just two of a plethora of examples which I take advantage of) One of my friends at JMU does not have a mobile phone, and as a result, she is very difficult to contact, and often misses out on fun things/experiences.

This reliance on cell phones creates problems, in that if your phone breaks/dies/you lose it, you're in big trouble. My life outside the house would grind to a halt without one, and whenever mine breaks, I have to have it replaced immediately. Currently, all phone models are tied to phone companies which try to bone you in every way. The phones are fragile and are mostly of poor quality. There are many improvements that could be made (computer link-ups, more included ringtones, sturdier phones etc) but aren't as they would reduce the service providers' ability to rip you off.

I think what I'm trying to say is that cell phones are absolutely wonderful (and necesary) in concept, but there's alot to be desired in actual products/service due to greedy phone companies.

I guess my life just isn't as fast paced and filled with exciting events like some of you. I don't ever find myself in a position where I need to "coordinate" things on the run. I make my plans for the day in the morning before I leave home. If something changes along the way, no biggie.

I'm just amazed at how many people absoultly depend on their cell phones. It's like they can't live without them.

What did these people do 6 or 7 years ago when very few people had cell phones? I remember the non-cell phone days, they were not that long ago. Everything was so much simpler then. You didn't see idiots flapping their mouths on phones everywhere you went.

When I was working as a Temp agency nurse and doing EMS work I carried a cell phone. Now that I'm retired I don't even own one. People know if they call the house to leave a message. I won't even answer the phone unless the message convinces me too.
After too many years practicaly living on the things, I totally hate phones in all shapes sizes and forms.

I'm currently doing a summer internship at Motorola, so I can't really say I hate cell phones because they make my paycheck. I do, however, hate the idiots that use them without regard to others around them. They talk on them at the movies. They talk on them while driving and endanger the lives of others (No, those hands free sets don't do anything. They are worthless. The brain sends focus to the phone conversation, thus limiting your driving ability.) I see people in class text messaging their friends like mad or playing games on their phone instead of paying attention. Then they complain about their grades. Idiots with their ringtones (I always have mine on vibrate). The list goes on...

I like my phone. It serves a purpose. People just need to develop some etiquette.

You people act like there were no ***holes and dumb people before cell phones... This is what it is though… it’s simple now you found a new stereotype to describe those idiots that you hate… Now it’s either people who talk on cell phones loud that piss you off or people who talk on cell phones and drive… and you guys are too scared to say that you hate dumb people or ***holes, so you find something to hate instead…

6-7 years ago, that’s interesting… let’s see what people hated 6-7 years ago

1) Walkmans… why did we hate walkmans… oh yeah… I remember… its because people where walking around and not hearing what’s going on around them and it annoyed people… oh and also it was so annoying when they were singing while listening to walkmans…

2) People who put on make up or shave while driving… because they didn’t pay attention to the road…

3) This goes back more then 50 years ago but Rock… noise pollution oh and remember Punk… and way people dressed etc

Its simple… stop stereotyping… there were and will be people who will annoy you with cell phones around or with out and way we progress we will find new things we hate because we will see some ***hole using it…

I'll give you example... I hate people who ride a bicycle on roads and act like they are cars... i hate seeing some looser in 3rd lane on street that is 40mph street... So if i was to think about that whole thing like a lot of people think of cell phones i would hate bycicles...





Oh and PS: I just camped out for a week... no cell phones or computers or even regular phone... its not that bad... i really don’t care... people can live with out them... but why... its easier to have one...

In the end... there is nothing wrong with cell phones... stop acting like you hate them... there is just something wrong with some people and they will get on your nerves with or with out cell phones/suvs/walkmens/music/makeup/bycicles/etc/etc/etc

There is plenty wrong with cell phones and SUV's. (Even worse are those 100 lb girls driving a huge SUV while talking on her cell phone. All that vehicle for only 100 lbs of body).

It's one thing when there are a select few A-holes, but annoying people on cell phones and in giant SUV's are EVERYWHERE. And it's getting worse.

I don't use my cell phone as an annoyance, rather I use it as an invaluable communications/networking tool. Maybe that's just me though. My life has become MUCH easier and more conveniant since I bought one. I'm at home (have access to a land line phone) when I sleep, but that's about it. I don't take calls when I'm asleep, so I never use the land line.

I use my bike instead of my car as my main transportation. I ride 10 miles a day just to go to work. Here is a fact: It is illigal to ride a bike on a sidewalk. I have been told by police many times to get off the sidewalk. You are suposed to ride your bike in the street. The realy sad part is that people are not aware of this fact. I get honked at, yelled at, and cursed at on a daily basis by drivers that think I am an idiot for riding in the street, when I am doing exactly what I am suposed to be doing.

This spring I was going down a hill in a comercial district of Austin going quite fast because it was downhill. I heard a car behind me start honking and turned to see two women with mean anoyed looks waving their hands for me to get out of their way. Keep in mind I was going fast, at least 30 mph and to go faster than that would actualy be speeding on that street. I must admit that I was upset by their behavior. Anyway I stood my ground as it was my legal right to be in the street. Seconds later I hear the horn again though much louder this time and turned around to see the driver holding the horn down and their bumper about 12" behind my back tire. I am not exagerating any of this. Needless to say this scared the crap out of me as it was intended to do. The look on her face might have been the best part, it was a move or I'll run you over look. So I moved over to the right and pulled into the next driveway I saw. I did not want to risk getting injured. I called the cops and the driver was charged with road rage and wreckless driving, thanks to the plate number I wrote down.

One time some sh!tkickers started throwing trash at me out of their truck while laughing and giving eachother high fives and such. It was amazing. I see this behavior from motorists on a daily basis not to this extreme but close. It makes me sick sometimes it's so rediculous. Don't get me wrong though I will always move over to the right as far as I can to let a car pass me unless you start honking at me and acting like a jerk.

That’s the thing... I’ve already heard that but you seem to miss my point and well just proven my point by this... and I quote "Even worse are those 100 lb girls driving a huge SUV while talking on her cell phone. All that vehicle for only 100 lbs of body"

There is nothing wrong with damn product… there is something wrong with people who do not know how to use the product… product is not to blame its people who abuse it or do not know how to use it to blame…
