I hate losing.

Well, I'm pretty sure no one likes losing... but I hate it. I've always been very competitive, and I think that's a good thing... but sometimes I just hate how worked up I get over stupid stuff.

It doesn't really matter what it is. For example, playing pool the other night with my buddy. I kept losing games because of stupid mistakes, and I started getting pretty worked up. I was just playing pool, something I enjoy VERY much... but I don't enjoy it as much when I'm pissed about losing.

And it's like the classic good and bad conscience on my shoulders... one part of me is thinking "Man, you're just playing pool, chill out! Why don't you work on being a more graceful loser?" but the other part is thinking "Man why don't you practice more and stop making stupid mistakes so you just DON'T LOSE!!!"

I'm not a prick... and I know that I shouldn't start getting mad about losing, but I just do. It's that competitive nature.

I know this is silly, it's just one of those things that I need to work on. Anybody else not so good at losing?

I enjoy playing pool with people who hate to lose... it makes it that much easier to keep beating them;). It inspires me to call crazier and crazier shots because that really discourages them. Like making bank shots towards the end of the table into the side pocket.

I don't like to lose but it's not the end of the world and most likely because of that I don't play with that pressure.

If you know your attitude isn't helping you, why not adjust it?
:hyper:

Or learn Zen.

And gardening.

Yeah gardening is great. It is here (with a twelver of Coors Light - cuz they're like water that's why - you gotta hydrate) that you learn the definition of losing by attrition. Those darn weeds will always come back. Ants will always be there, but you can still get the small joy of killing them all. That's what losing is all about. Killing them all. Right? Wait. What are we talking about? :ninja: :hiding:

When you lose, don't lose the lesson ;)

Next time you play something competitive, ignore internal dialogues and just PLAY to have fun. You may find you still lose, but your performance and improvement will be consistent not sporadic.

That said, I suck at losing :D
