I HATE MY SVT HEAD!!

I have an SVTII Pro and I'm also using the slave out into the power amp section of an SVT CL. So just for double torture, I need TWO 80 lb tube amps! I just cant seem to find my way tonewise to anything that sounds better, and I've tried ! .

In the case of the Ampeg 810E you can run the upper and lower 4x10's separately within the same cabinet...

Edit: I was thinking that your setup somehow has better speaker damping.
Edit: Do you like your setup because the low notes are clearer/tighter?

LIGT- I wasnt really planning on running them this way. I was going to replace the CL with SVT 2 Pro, but then I tried the slave out thing, and it just sounds amazing. Its deeper, clearer, brighter, more punch, everything.... My guess is that 600 watts is better than 300 watts .

Those two cabinet halves are connected to a certain extent via acoustic coupling, and it is possible that you approximate to some degree a 12x6550 output section. Just a thought. (I welcome anyone correcting me.)

12x6550 output section. I like it! . I havent really thought much about it, but now that you mention it -maybe controlling the 810 with 2 separate amps also has an effect on the damping factor / control of the speaker cones. I'm just thinking out loud, but I know one thing for sure - it works!

One thing no one has mentioned is your running an impedance mismatch. The SVT is setup for 4 ohms or 2 ohms, and each half of the 810E is 8 ohms.

The designer of the SVT has confirmed the amp is fine at 8 ohms, but the impedance will reduce the amount of power the amps can deliver and also increase tube wear.

I have not idea how the mismatch affects damping.

Yes, waiting on 2 12Aux7's!
Just pulled an old highly modified Showman head out of the garage today.
It was meant for guitar but between multiple "pull" switches and other mods it sounds great for bass too.
How crazy is this? It hasn't been turned on in somewhere between 8-10 years. Put a space heater into the outlet strip to lower our normal 124 VAC to 114 and gave it a go.
Sounds awesome with no issues. What are the chances!
