well, if i was you i would learn a song or two that isnt wicked easy, but not difficult like money by pink floyd or something like that and just play those. If you play cool, simple recognizable songs, yeah it might be cliche, but at least you wont be self concious about your ability.

either that or go play in oncoming traffic. lol.

I'm always amazed by the talent some bassist have in a solo environment.
True story...I have a bassist friend that's a amazing talent, unbelievably accomplished.
His downfall...he tries to play EVERY chop he knows in every song.
A few years back he auditioned for and got the gig of a life time with one of the biggest named rock groups at that time.
He left on their tour, resorted back to his way of playing in a band setting, they let him go after three gigs...said they didn't need another lead guitar player.

But what sucks about that situation is that the lead guitar player has every opportunity to stretch his legs and showcase his chops.

There's maybe a handful of bands out there where the bassist gets (or takes) that kind of freedom. Because if that rarity, so few new bands embrace an unbelievably accomplished, amazingly talented bass player. Sure, they WANT one, but don't really want one...if you follow me.
