I have a major problem

Only once did I get this wrong. That was because instead of letting the Muse guide me, I thought too much and rationalized and justified that thought.
I did end up doing a great job of playing an EB like an Ashbory. Many compliments from the group that they’d never heard someone make an EB produce upright like decay.

A fire has broken out in your home. You have 2 arms ,and 2 seconds to decide with 2 basses to grab and run out of the house. The others will be burned beyond recognition in the fire. Got those two figured out? OK, leave one at home and take the other one (flip a coin if you can't decide which one) - that way if one of them is stolen at the gig or from your home while at the gig (that has happened to me) you have one of your top 2 left.

Maybe stop at GC on the way to the gig and buy the most expensive one hanging on the used bass wall?

Still factory original and still my main bass since I got it back in 1974. I recently found an '83 Ripper in excellent shape I use for gigging if I'm bringing a Ripper. My 74 seldom leaves the house these days.

Bring the two you play the most. Then play the other two and figure out why you didn't bring them. If they aren't gigable sell them and get more of what you like.
