You just made it easy. If you feel this strongly that it doesn't feel right, then don't lend gear out. You have many years to go before this will be an issue. Just tell her that you can't lend out the bass because it's your backup and has to be available to you at a moment's notice.
If done improperly, yes, but when pulled off in the correct fashion, it can work. Say, letting her use the bass in exchange for something...
