I have a problem....

anyway been playing bass solidly for a while in my church, when all of the sudden a girl asks if she can borrow my old bass (an older ibanez GIO) so I was like uhh I don't have a carry case for it.... but yesterday i went out and purchased an SKB44 hard case for my J&D luthier which freed up a bass case... What shouldIi do? should I promote another bassist in the world or not let my first bass leave my sight..?

A rule of thumb that I go by is don't borrow what you can't afford to replace, and don't lend out what you can't afford to lose.

It may be stingy, but it's probably better in the long run.

omg you guys are fast to answer... shes a "responsible girl" plays violin or something.. its just the bass isn't worth much probs $150, but it has sentimental value... shes 15 or 16... and i think if she broke it she would replace it... still not sure though... it'd like rip a void inside of me...

If done improperly, yes, but when pulled off in the correct fashion, it can work. Say, letting her use the bass in exchange for something...

Perhaps not. Maybe he could give her lessons, and reach around her to show her how to pluck & fret. Could be better than giving billiard lessons.

I ask because if it's cheap enough, she should buy one herself. I've had so much equipment stolen or not returned when I was a young, trusting and foolish lad.

Just let her use it. You wont loose anything. It's been 11 years a go, so that's less then $10/a year that the bass has cost you. So you wont loose anything, really.
