Today it happened. I walked into my local Guitar center and there spread along the walls were some Basses I have been gassing over for sometime. A few fender P Bass a Musicman stingray a fender dimension and so on and so forth. (my gas list takes to long to name I’m sure you can relate) anywho I decided to sit down and try out these Basses. Unfortunately I was unimpressed. Not so much by the poor guitar center set up or lack there of. Not by the sorry ass salesman who I wouldn’t trust to sell my little sister a box of Kleenex let alone recommend a guitar to actually players. It wasn’t by the tremendously bad playing that 80% of the customers that day were putting on display. I was just unimpressed because it wasn’t a Fender jazz. Having learned on a jazz bass and playing a jazz bass all these years I thought it was time for a change. I was wrong no bass feels the same they don’t play the same. The don’t do anything the same. Now of course this is because there completely different Basses. One would not expect it to sound like a jazz. I guess I learned that a Fender Jazz is home bass for me. I could go on the rest of my life just playing a jazz and happily I might add. I’m not sure why this didn’t hit me sooner. Maybe I still had hope. I know I have not played every bass in the world And I don’t think I’d want to. I just know that me and old Jazz have a bond that can not be broken. I guess I’m going to save up for a custom shop jazz and never Gas for anything again. CURED!!
