I’d probably go SCPB. Probably the most predictable result, and the smallest mod wouldn’t exclude bigger pickups in the future. (Plus I just like ‘em!)

Seems he has lots of ideas already with so much stuff around.

I do like the look of that Burns pickup. And though I'm no fan of tort the red color is a cool option for that will set the black body apart a little bit. I'm a fan of white guards but that's mostly because I like the way they offset my paint schemes.

I'll be interested to see the final product. Always happy to read about someone else's Short Scale project.

What Stratocaster size pickups do you like the most in a Bronco?

If by "stratocaster" size you mean some kind of dual rail model, I don't use those in any of my basses. I bought one and tried it but to me it sounded a little thin and was noisy. Could have been the brand, could have been a bad unit. I just didn't stay with that type.

I have pickups from Sentell in 3 of my Short Scales. I have one parts-bass with their Big Sis model, and the Bullet/Mustang model in my other parts-bass and Squier CV Mustang.

Truth be told my 4th Short Scale is a Squier Musicmaster with the original Vista Tone pickup. That is the best pickup of all.

Ok Good luck on finding someone. Talk to the best local guitar tech/luthier…. They can probably help you out.

The Vista Tone pickups were only available in the Squier Musicmasters, best of luck finding one. I'd have more if they were available anywhere.

…. Maybe b/w/b guard….. two thunderbird pickups (bridge and middle)… Gibson style pickup sector switch in lower horn…. Make a chrome/aluminum control plate…. Jazz knobs… Gotoh 201 bridge….bone nut….CTS pots… switchcraft jack … orange drop cap…. Clover tuners ….

Basic mock up of how it’s gonna go …two thunderbird pickups. I’m thinking it will have a Gibson style pickup selector switch in the lower horn…..but I may go simple and just keep the controls V-V . Probably the switch though. I may also make a metal control plate for it, kinda like a mustang bass. Hmmm …

I’m also considering cutting the headstock into a Tele style. Thoughts ?

Switch is supposed to be here Wednesday. I’ll probably go ahead and route for it either way. But I think the selector switch and a simple Vol-Tone setup is probably the way to go.

Then I can decide on the headstock and if I want to bother changing it to a Tele style. First I need to do some fretwork and change out the plastic nut for a bone one .

I’m going waaaaaaaay overboard on an $80 bass …… but it’ll be a cool one for sure.
