These TBird pickups aren’t 4 conductor I don’t believe. I’ll have to look , but pretty sure they aren’t

Would be an interesting combination even without the ability to run a series / parallel / single coil switch

That baby is BEGGING for a couple of Dano lipstick tube pickups mounted right next to each other, like a psuedo humbucker, with a pull pot to make them series or parallel, and another pull pot to remove one of the pickups making it a single coil.

If the MFD dual coil is employed, it will overpower by magnitude any other pickup in the system, so an MFD split would be in order.

THAT would be a monster

I'd do it with a 3 way switch on the lower horn, like a musicmaster.

Could be interesting. I’d definitely want to check the output balance first, but definitely an interesting idea

I’ve always liked the look of the Burns, but really have no idea on their tone and they look like they would have a physically smaller coil and weaker output but I’m just guessing.

I have two Broncos I gig with. I need a hum cancelling pickup. I have tried a bunch of different strat pickups and come back to the Musiclily dual rail pickups I get for $15 off Amazon. I think they sound great and less noisy than other high output rail pickups.

I got a white rail Musiclily from amazon and its by far the worst pickup i’ve ever had,
copper shielding on the bottom is actually paint
its so microphonic in an amp any touch of the pickup sounds like a speaker popping bomb.
one thumb slap and it peaks into overload.
even hard plucking makes it distort,

its crap

ime, imo, ymmv…..

probably going to get a Lace Sensor to replace it

The nicest Bronco bass I’ve ever seen was natural with a redish tortoise pickguard.

My favorite pickups are always the precision standard at normal location. A lightly overwound is the way to go for me, even more true on a short scale IMO. Makes people wanna dance.

Black and satin black pickguard is also nice to me but I always feel I need to play rock exclusively with such bass……….

And one of my all time best bridge is the Fender bent plate with threaded barrels. It’s perfect to fine tune the spacing when everything isn’t perfect.

Seems he has lots of ideas already with so much stuff around.

I do like the look of that Burns pickup. And though I'm no fan of tort the red color is a cool option for that will set the black body apart a little bit. I'm a fan of white guards but that's mostly because I like the way they offset my paint schemes.

I'll be interested to see the final product. Always happy to read about someone else's Short Scale project.
