Sounds like it might be stolen or fraudulent. Or brought in by some teenager who wants a new iPhone instead of the cab his dad bought him. If I bought that cabinet originally myself, I wouldn't accept $200 in cash for it.

Or it was researched incorrectly by the GC person who accepted the cabinet. "Avatar" instead of "Aguilar" actually sounds like a plausible explanation.

update: it was in bad shape...carpeting all torn up, starting to become unglued all around and looks like someones cat lived in it. I ended up returning it to my local GC so all was good on my end. Pictures on the site didn't show any of its "issues" i normally wouldn't have minded but because i was looking to pair it with my other GS410 it was just in such bad shape i couldn't do it.

I remember seeing that cab listed the day after it arrived. I was going to stop in that evening to see it, but you bought it already.
I didn't have my hopes up because they listed it as 2 stars for condition. They previously had a used Stingray listed at 5 stars that I checked out. It would have been lucky to get 3.5 stars. From that experience, a 2 cabinet would be lucky to still be square.

Agreed. GC is not a charity... I hope it works out well, but I smells me a rat...

Sometimes guys just don't know what they have and are too lazy to find out.

I scored a sweet used MIJ 70's reissue jazz bass from the local one for $300, tagged as a MIM.
