I just found a GC giveaway!!!

So poking around on my lunch break looking at GC's used selection kind of always look at the same, boutique basses, aguilar, epifani gear just seeing if any good deals are out there...think i made out on this one...

Aguilar GS 410, 4 ohm, 299.99...so of course i call...get one of the bass guys...
ME: whats wrong with it...
GC guy: that i didn't see it first...

according to the GC guy its in great shape so we'll see once its arrives...

So after shipping 27 dollars from NJ to CT (awesome!!!) total for a GS410 cab $347.99...will go nice with the other one i have...

to bad the AG500SC doesn't have the option to run biamped...darn...

yeah i am hoping it is all okay...we will see, the screwed up thing here is that means someone took around $150.00 for a $1000.00 cab GC's in my area at least max they pay is 50%...maybe they gave him 200...like really!, so first that will happen is the jackplate will be off and a call to aguilar will be made to confirm specs and speakers...those guys really are awesome.

Congrats!! Although I can't remember if I've ever played a GS 410, it sounds like a good deal if it's in great shape.

I've gotten some sweet deals from my closest GC (75 miles away in Mobile AL).
Bought my first new Goliath III from a local dealer in 2005, and he beat the current map price by a little. I think it was around $750. Then Hurricane Katrina swallowed it up, so I happened to be in the Mobile GC a few months later. This was when GC and MF were discontinuing the SWR line, so all SWR was marked clearance. After a little negotiating, I got another brand new G III for $499, and ......they ate the 9% sales tax. Best I could tell, that was below dealer cost!!

For the record, I've been satisfied with all my dealings with this particular store.

My local GC here in RI is blowing out alot of there floor samples dirt cheap, must be getting ready for the wave of new gear after all the NAMM releases.

They don't stock Aguilar stuff new, so that could be why too. They we hesitant for a while after the takeover a few years ago to take in any used gear that they didn't sell in stores, but lately I've been seeing a lot of stuff popping up since they've been checking ebay sales for prices. This, methinks, was probably just a bad job of research. BTW, not sure if he's still there (probably not) but warwick used to have a great guy in the bass dept, kept some cool stuff in that store. The MA stores, except boston just because of volume, always had crap for bass gear.

The Warwick RI stores bass amplifier dept is pretty bare right now. They sold off alot of gear, everything was marked down real low this past weekend when I was in there.

I'm glad to see that there are some stores that will deal in used merchandise, whether taken on trade, or purchased outright. It creates a good source of bargains for players, as well as generating additional revenue for the business, if done right.

Twenty four years ago i managed a store for a smallish regional chain, whose policy was to not accept trades or purchases of used instruments. Over the two year period, I was approached numerous times by people who had some great gear to dispose of, so policy being what it was, I bought several items out of my own pocket; everything from a solid silver flute to a grand piano. Most items I resold but some others I used myself. Had a blast! LOL!

I have to wonder if the cab is stolen. I assume the cab is used. If someone sold it to Guitar Center, and GC was only asking $300 for it, whoever sold the cab to them probably only got about $200 for it. I would think that anyone who actually owned an Aguilar GS410 would know that it's worth a lot more than $200.

Not that surprising really. With GC's used stuff, they keep reducing the price if it's not selling down to what they paid for it, then the guys at the store fight over who gets it cheap. Some guy probably sold it to GC for $300 (GC won't pay what it's worth) and you caught if after the last price reduction. You can get some great things this way. I got an old Fender head that started at $400 and I got it at $100...pretty nice deal.

I smell a great deal, Congrats! I've scored GC 'used' Boss pedals for well below 'used' ebay prices, good deals happen! GC tried to sell me a good used Traynor YCV-40 for $200+tax last Summer, and it sat there for days in good, used condition, no joke!

Craigslist is overrated!

I bought a used but mint Berg HT322 for $400 at GC; it was placed at the end of a hallway near the used equipment area. Don't think they knew what it was.

Nicely done!

The only time I bought from GC used online was a bad experience, but I am glad to hear someone else got a steal!

I bought a used fretless Warwick Corvette for $550 (which was good then because they were all going for like $650+ on here at the time) and the guy was like, "It's in great condition! No fretboard wear." So it arrives, and there's a chunk missing out of the body, fretboard wear, and the fretboard edges were dinged all ta heck. Needless to say, I returned it.

Hopefully yours is in good condition!
